Coates have been making charcoal in the traditional manner since 1819. The intense blackness of natural willow charcoal makes it a perfect drawing tool and has been used by artists for centuries.
Back in the 1960s, Percy Coate began experimenting with the willow he grew to make drawing charcoal. Although it took some years to perfect the technique, by the 1970s he was finally ready to share the new Coates Willow Charcoal with the world.
Coates Charcoal is excellent quality and ideal for fine, detailed drawing, as well as producing bold marks.
This pack contains 100 half sticks of charcoal in an assortment of sizes. The charcoal is carefully packaged so it retains its shape during transit.
