Natural sea sponges are used by many watercolourists as well as other artists and craftspeople. They make useful tools for lifting colour from wet paintings or adding texture by lifting a pattern or bits of colour from your watercolour painting. They are also tough yet gentle for scrubbing a dry watercolour to lift the colour and hold more water than foam sponges.
