A gilders cushion is one of the core tools in traditional gilding, used as a surface for cutting and lifting delicate gold leaf.

The Handover Studio Cushion is made for practical, everyday use in the studio, with a fully flat base so it sits securely on your work surface rather than needing to be held.

Covered in fine black leather, it provides the slightly cushioned, smooth surface needed to control and cut leaf cleanly with a gilders knife. The leather helps reduce drag and static, making it easier to handle loose leaf without tearing or unwanted movement. The dark colour also gives good contrast, so you can see the edges of the leaf more clearly while working.
