INFORMATION
A traditional tool used by decorative painters for faux marble scumbling, as well as by marblers and bookbinders, the swan quill is ideal for creating fine veining, soft movement, and natural stone effects. Its naturally tapered point and gentle flexibility allow for subtle control, making it particularly effective for lifting, softening, and defining paint during scumbling work.
Sourced once a year from a local swannery, these quills are collected during the swans’ natural annual moult, when feathers are shed. Long valued in decorative painting and heritage crafts, the swan quill offers an authentic connection to traditional techniques and workshop practice.
Please note: This is a seasonal product. Limited stocks arrive annually, typically between July and August, and availability is limited while supplies last.
