Handover : Pounce Powders

Pounce powder is one of the oldest tools in the signwriter’s kit – and one of the most useful. Used in combination with a perforated pounce pattern and a pounce pad, it transfers your design accurately onto the surface to be painted, leaving a clean dotted outline ready to work from. The same pattern can be used repeatedly, making it ideal whenever the same design needs to be painted across multiple surfaces.

Pounce powder was traditionally made from powdered cuttlefish bone, though for many years now it has been chalk or charcoal-based – our black powder is charcoal-based, while the white and blue are chalk-based. Handover pounce powders are specially formulated not to clog, ensuring a clean, even transfer every time.

We stock pounce powder in three colours – black, white, and blue – so there is always an option that provides the right contrast against your background:

• Black – charcoal-based, ideal for light and pale surfaces
• White – ideal for dark and mid-toned surfaces
• Blue – a versatile mid-tone option that works well across a range of surfaces

All three are designed for use with the Hancy Pounce Pad, and replacement pads are also available should yours need refreshing.
