How to Use: Clean your brush, lightly oil the bristles, shape, and store . Neatsfoot oil is essential for keeping your brushes in perfect condition. Before first use, saturate the hairs in neatsfoot oil and shape the brush, such as forming a chisel edge for lettering brushes. Leave it standing upright (hairs up) for at least an hour to allow the oil to penetrate the ferrule, helping prevent paint from drying deep within the brush. Before painting, wipe away any excess oil with a rag and rinse in clean white spirit. After use, clean thoroughly, then massage neatsfoot oil back into the hairs to restore shape and replace natural oils lost during painting and cleaning. Thanks to its slow-drying properties, neatsfoot oil keeps brushes supple and ready to use, but avoid leaving brushes stored oily for long periods – for storage over six months, keep them dry in a sealed case.
