INFORMATION
This paint can provide a cheaper alternative to gold leaf where cost is a factor. For external application, apply a coat of lacquer to protect from atmospheric contamination.
This paint is quite fast drying. This is because if it dried any slower, the metal powders would rise to the top of the paint and could then wipe off when dry. As it dries quickly it traps the metal powders inside the medium, giving the desired ‘metallic’ effect.
To thin, add a small amount of Nitrocellulose/cellulose thinner. This can oxidise the metal/bronzing powders so should be used sparingly and only immediately before using.
Use the same cellulose thinner to clean your brushes after use.
